Muskogee Public Schools is working toward providing free breakfast and lunch to every students, regardless of family income.

District leaders expect to receive community eligibility grant funding for all schools except for Sadler Arts Academy. It does not currently qualify.

Officials told FOX23 there is a big need for free food in the schools. Many students are low income and the $2.25 daily lunch can be a burden on some families.

If approved, the program would go into effect next school year.
