Kids World at Expo Square

Kids are great explorers…and they have the chance to investigate dozens of cultures and countries at Kids’ World 2014!  This award-winning, international event presented by Tulsa Global Alliance (TGA) has been expanded to four days this year: November 19-22 in the Exchange Center at Expo Square, Tulsa Fairgrounds. Tickets are only $4 for children 18 and under, $5 for adults.

In a fun and fast-paced style, children and youth gain a rich understanding and appreciation for the diversity of world cultures!  Get your Kids’ World passport stamped in each “country” by cultural ambassadors, attired in native dress.

15,000 people are expected to ‘travel’ the world through hands-on activities, entertainment, and culturally diverse foods.  Children can climb on a Mayan Temple and see (nearly life-sized) replicas of Big Ben, the Washington Monument, the Easter Island Moai Heads and a German house.  You can snack on treats from India, the Middle East and other international lands. Try on real wooden shoes from Holland, learn to write your name in Japanese, or hang out in a Jordanian tent…and there is so much more!  This year's festival will include a new set of exciting "hands-on" science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-focused exhibits.

Country and culture examples include Burma, Indonesia, Nigeria, the Cherokee Nation, Brazil, Norway, and Tulsa's 8 Sister Cities:  Tiberias, Israel; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; Celle, Germany; Zelenograd, Russia; Amiens, France; Utsunomiya, Japan; Beihai, China, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Tulsa Global Alliance is especially thankful to the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation for their continued support since the festival began in 1993. Kids’ World 2014 sponsors include the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, TD Williamson, Advance Research Chemicals, Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Cherokee Nation Businesses, Verizon, the Sharna and Irvin Frank Foundation, Williams, Affair of the Heart and KRAV.

The Kids’ World 2014 Honorary Chair is Sanjay Meshri and the committee, chaired by Douglas Price, includes John Orsulak, Jami Fullerton, John Sieler, Amber Vanderburg, Kristen Andrews, Leslie Melvin, Olga Randolph, Megan Gaspar, Mahvash Khosrowyar, Brett Bailey, David Stambaugh, Cristina Smith Willams, Sue Riggs, Cathy Izzo, Bob Lieser, Becky Collins and Pat Kroblin, Manager.

Admission is $4 for children 18 and under, $5 for adults.  Special rates are available for school field trips, home school groups and scouting groups.  For more information, visit the Kids’ World section of the TGA website at tulsaglobalalliance.org or call 918-591-4750.
